Watercolor Whimsy

Exciting Announcement May 12, 2015

Texas Longhorns inspired watercolor painting

I am happy to share that I my soon to be husband and I are moving (right after our marriage in June) to Austin, Texas!  It will be quite a move, especially since most of our family and friends are located in the Midwest.  And I’m also worried about how our dog, Bailey, will handle the move in his condition (see above post).  But, overall, we are really excited for this new adventure!  I have heard amazing things about Austin, and I am looking forward to exploring all that the area has to offer.  And I think it’ll be a wonderful, new place for growing my art business.  Plus, I have always been more of a warm weather girl, so I am actually looking forward to the hot summers and mild winters.

Are you living in the Austin area or have you been there before?  I’d love to hear your words of advice on living in Austin or on exploring that region!

In honor of the move, I’m also creating this Longhorns-inspired abstract.  I hope that it does the burnt-orange nation justice : )

Bye Y’all,
Jennifer

Bald Eagle April 09, 2015

Bald Eagle watercolor painting
I wanted to share with you all my latest painting, the "Bald Eagle." This painting is part of the series of watercolor paintings I am doing of U.S. state birds. While the bald eagle is not actually a state bird, it is the national bird and animal of the United States. It is such a majestic bird of prey, so I hope that I was able to capture the regal quality that this bird seems to have.  The original has already sold, but I have prints available for purchase here!  I also thought I'd share a few pictures of this painting in progress below:

Now it's time for me to get back to work on some fun abstracts I have been busy creating :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Sleepy Fox March 19, 2015 2 Comments

Sleepy Fox watercolor painting

I recently finished my "Sleepy Fox" painting, yay!  I have the original currently hanging in a beautiful salon in Milwaukee, while prints of this fox are available right here on my website!  I love sharing pictures of my artistic process, so below are a few photos I snapped while painting it.  I really enjoyed painting this piece and creating the leaf motif around the fox.  For some reason it was an extremely calming and cheerful experience putting this painting together (perhaps I was channeling the peaceful fox while painting it).

Anyways, I hope that you all like it!  As always, I would love to hear your thoughts and comments!

New Website & Blog March 07, 2015

Hi there!  I've been hard at work lately creating a new website that I'm pretty excited about.  I made some design changes so that my website is (hopefully) more user-friendly for all of you now!  I also made some big behind the scene changes so that the business side of things work more smoothly for me.  I hope that you have a chance to peek around my site and that you like the new look and feel to my website!

And now that I've finished putting together the nuts and bolts of the new site, I am finally back to painting!  It had been weeks since I had last picked up a paintbrush, so it felt so good to get back to actually painting in my studio!  Here is what I'm working on now: a little, sleepy fox.
